Access Audio employs al-8 arrays on Kari Jobe – The Blessing Tour 2021

VUE Audiotechnik al-8 line arrays support Grammy nominated Kari Jobe Ohio Tour stop

Dec 9, 2021, Grove City, OH

Twice Grammy nominated contemporary Christian music artist, Kari Jobe, has been on tour supporting her 2020 release “The Blessing”. Jobe has been a highly successful contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter since her 2009 self-titled release that charted at no. 3 on the US Christian music charts and topped the charts at no. 1 with her releases “Where to Find You” and “Majestic”. Her current album release “The Blessing” debuted at no. 3 while the single and title track peaked at no. 2 on the Hot Christian Songs chart. It was nominated for “Top Christian Song” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards and the album was also nominated for “Worship Album of the Year” at the 2021 GMA Dove Awards.

When Kari Jobe’s tour played Grove City Ohio, Access Audio was hired to provide sound reinforcement. Kari Jobe’s tour recognized the inadequacy of the venue pa.  Chris Knueven, Access Audio’s Director of Business Operations stated, “The house pa did not have the fidelity and overall output required to support the show, but it was not going to come down to make room for our system. This biggest issue with this venue was the lack of option to fly. The ground stacking flexibility of the al-8s made it an extremely easy choice for us.”

The solution incorporated two ground stacks of six VUE Audiotechnik al-8 line array elements over al-8sb subs. Three al-8 elements were also used for front-fills along with four hs-221 subs. The ground stacked arrays were set-up to cover the floor level seats along with 2nd level seating in the auditorium. The solution was such a success that Kari Jobe’s tour engineer commented that this was the first time on this tour he felt that he didn’t need to do anything to tune the system for the performance. Despite the inability to fly the line array, audience coverage was easily achieved and Access Audio’s System Tech and Director of Live Events, Frank Miranda commented “The flexibility of the al-8 system made load-in challenges a breeze. Quickly being able to transition from a flying system, to a very clean and stable ground stacked system is one of the things I like most. The venue constraints were seriously less than ideal. But with the form factor, ease-of-deployment, and full spectrum clarity, the VUE al-8s and hs-221s were still able to satisfy the artist’s mix engineer.”

Touring mix engineers often face a variety of challenges when playing venues that may have to rely on a house system. Not all house systems are up to modern sound system standards. VUE Audiotechnik’s ground stack line array option is an excellent solution when augmenting or replacing a house system when flying is prohibited.
