Student ministry stage production featured al-8 line arrays and hs subs

Since 1991, Access Audio in Cincinnati, OH have provided full-service production with staging, audio, video and lighting along with rental services. Access Audio came onboard with VUE Audiotechnik as a member of the VUE rental network in 2015 and have utilized the al-8 and al-4 subcompact line arrays at many events throughout the mid-west.
The high-output systems have proven to benefit church customers such as Grace Church in Indianapolis and most recently Crossroads Church in Cincinnati. Crossroads Church held their Student Ministry High School and Middle School Camps at Camp Chautauqua in Miamisburg, Ohio. There were 3 camps during July 12-25 that featured live performances of Contemporary Christian Worship Music.
Access Audio was hired to provide a full-stage production that relied on their VUE Audiotechnik al-8 line arrays. The system consisted of 4 hangs of al-8s with 6 elements per hang. This provided L/R FOH coverage along with L/R fill. Individual al-8 elements were placed on the front edge of the stage as additional fill for those standing up close. The low-end for front of house was pushed with VUE hs-28 subwoofers placed in a cardiod configuration under the main system. To add subs to the side-fills, hs-221 subs were also positioned in cardiod configuration under the fill al-8 hangs.
Chris Knueven, Director of Operations at Access Audio, spoke about some of the challenges with the room. “Weight limitations per point, and the need for wide-coverage led us to the decision to use all VUE AL-8. This provided the most consistent frequency response, and helped to keep points under weight. Being our first major shows since Covid, the al-8’s ease of rigging and setup made load in and load out a breeze. This saved time and frustration, and allowed contractors to get back into the flow easily.”
With live music events returning, Access Audio will be picking up steam and putting their other VUE systems to good use.
